Public Health Administration
Section
Welcome to the
Administration Section of the Florida Public Health Association!
You might ask, who are we? Since there has been little activity over the past several years, that
would be a good question. To give a little history of the section - it began as the
Clerical, Administrative and Fiscal (CAF) Section. It consisted of a variety of staff from personnel, fiscal
and other administrative areas. With limited participation by clerical staff and the a need to expand the section to include
all administrative positions in public health settings (private and public), the section officers felt the purpose should
be focused on administrative issues and provide networking opportunities for similar professionals in the public health field.
Therefore, the CAF Section was changed to the Public Health Administration Section and focuses on the administrative,
business and financial models of public health administration.
Currently our membership is composed of professionals in administrative positions in a variety of public health fields
including universities, county health departments, voluntary agencies, etc. At this time we want ideas
for future activities and programs that are of interest to the membership. We hope this will encourage and motivate participation
so that we will have an active section to communicate and exchange ideas.
Your 2007-2008 Section Co-Chairs are Mary Kay Burns (mary_burns@doh.state.fl.us) and Robin Wright (robin_wright@doh.state.fl.us). We will have our Section program meeting at the Annual Education Conference in Orlando on Thursday, July 31, 2008 from
3:30 PM – 5:00 PM. Our business meeting will immediately follow the speaker at 4:30 PM.
If you are interested and would like to learn more about our section, please join us or contact Mary Kay or Robin by
email.
